The Coveted The Unearthly Laura Thalassa Books
I am now invested in this series and definitely plan to purchase the next book. There is a constant sense of urgency and chaos in this girl's life. That being said, while it keeps the book well paced, I sometimes feel like the main character is lagging. Don't get me wrong, I really do like this series. I would just like to see the heroine reach a higher level of emotional maturity. For someone who is overcoming so much and learning how to navigate a very antagonistic world with new found bravery and strength she often very petulant and bratty, which is sometimes annoying in its excess. Her feminist attitude is often so over the top that it just makes her look childish. I am hopeful that in the next book we will see her begin to overcome some of that. As her relationship with her sexy vamp king matures perhaps she will as well. And dear author...please don't make us wait until the final chapter of the last book for these two to consummate this relationship. I hate it when authors use that as their climactic ending (pun intended). Sure, she's young and still holding onto that V card, but they drink blood and kill people and take showers together so I think propriety has already flown out the window.
Anyway...With a few tiny critiques aside, I truly enjoy this series. It's one of those books that you have a difficult time deciding where to take a break. I definitely recommend this series.
Happy reading!

The Coveted The Unearthly Laura Thalassa Books Reviews
I just started this series today, and I'm hooked! Gabrielle is such a strong character. I love how she has so much sass, yet she actaully has a soft side to her. I also enjoy how she isn't someone who's waiting to be saved; she's actively out there trying to help herself and everyone else.
This book picks off with her and Caleb going on investigations. She also is a bit distant from Andre due to what happened in the last book. That doesn't last long since they will be forced together in order to help with all the new crime that is emerging. You really get to see Andre grow in this book, yet he can still be cocky and possessive. This time, however, it's accompanied by flirty banter with Gabrielle. So, needless to say they are working on their relationship.
Oliver also made me laugh in this book. He's so outrageous sometimes, but he isn't stupid. He actually has a lot of insight despite all of his fun and games. He kind of reminds me of Tink if you've read the Wicked series by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
Overall, I can't wait to finish this series and highly recommend it!
"The Coveted" by Laura Thalassa is book two of the Unearthly series and picks up about one month after book one left off. Gabrielle is now working for the Politia and hasn't spoken to Andre since the night his mansion burned. After a witch is killed and drained of her blood, all fingers are pointing to the vampires. It's up to Gabrielle to put her problems aside and work with Andre to solve the case before more people die and the truce between vampires and the supernatural community dissolves.
"The dead were not so scary. The living were the ones you had to watch out for." -Gabrielle
Again I love these characters. Gabrielle is really starting to rely on her instincts and learn to use her gifts as a vampire and siren in this installment. Not only that but she confronts her own demons and faces Andre. Oh Andre, how I love thee!!! This character makes a great protagonist and antagonist all at the same time. Inherently he is evil, he's a vampire. However now that he has met his soulmate, he is starting to have human feelings again and it makes him very adorable! The man in the suit is back and haunting Gabrielle even more, again he is a perfect villain. Super creepy and gives me goosebumps! Leanne, Oliver, and Caleb are also back and I love the humor and irony they bring to the main character's life. It gives the book a good balance.
"There were so many more things I'd rather be doing than this, such as getting my wisdom teeth pulled without local anesthetic, streaking through Peel Castle during a school day, going in for a pelvic examination with a male doctor. Yeah, I was that uninterested in this demonstration." -Gabrielle
The twists and turns in this book left me reeling! I loved the whole murder mystery tied into the All Hallows Eve festival. It made for a page-turning read. Also there was no way I could've predicted this ending. I was left hopelessly clueless until the last page and begging for more! I really can't wait to see just where the author takes this series. It's definitely going to be good!
The Coveted was darker, and probably slightly better than the first book! It’s a few weeks later, Gabrielle is back in school and she’s working for the Politia (Supernatural Police!). She wants to show that vampires aren’t all evil, and they want to keep an eye on her. Especially when bodies that have been drained of blood start showing up. Gabrielle is immediately cleared, but she has to solve this case before the truce between vampires and the other supernaturals is revoked, and they’re all hunted to extinction.
I quite enjoyed The Coveted. It was more of a paranormal murder mystery than the first book. There appears to be a serial killer on the loose, but no one can find a pattern behind the murders. The only obvious connection other than being drained of blood is that the bodies were laid out in the formation of various religious symbols. On top of that, Gabrielle has been getting nighttime visitors in the form of Incubi! And her friend Leanne has been acting really weird, like she saw something bad coming up. All of these things must be connected, and Gabrielle is going to figure out how before she’s the next victim.
The Coveted was another quick, fun read in this series. I kind of missed seeing the school since most of the story takes place at crime scenes or public places. It was interesting to learn about more supernatural beings this time around though with the introduction of demons. The ending is a tiny cliffhanger. Gabrielle and friends do solve the mystery and take care of the perpetrator temporarily, but it’s not over yet.
